Kevin Pauza, MD

Dr. Kevin Pauza is an internationally recognized interventional spine specialist and a founding partner of the Texas Spine and Joint Hospital in Tyler, Texas. At RSI, Dr. Pauza serves as a Senior Physician with a clinical focus on treating injuries of the cervical and lumbar spine using intradiscal biologic injections.

Dr. Pauza is well known for developing the innovative Discseel™ procedure, a minimally-invasive treatment that aims to promote healing and repair of discs in the lumbar and cervical spine for a subset of patients who suffer from chronic, discogenic neck and/or low back pain. The Discseel™ procedure involves injecting, under fluoroscopic guidance, an FDA-approved fibrin sealant—which consists of various components of blood plasma, thrombin, and fibrinogen—into damaged spinal discs in the cervical and lumbar spine to treat various spinal conditions, including degenerative disc disease and internal disc disruption.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pauza serves on the editorial panels of several scientific journals, committees and boards. Dr. Pauza has written numerous scientific publications and is currently investigating the clinical efficacy of various intradiscal biologic treatments for degenerative disc disease. He is regularly invited to lecture at the country’s leading orthopedic medical conferences to educate other physicians about his pioneering work in the field of interventional spinecare. In 2008, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine recognized Dr. Pauza with the Alumni Fellow Award.

A graduate of Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Dr. Pauza completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and an Interventional Spine Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
