OUR VISION
The human body is home to the most powerful medicine available for acute injuries and chronic musculoskeletal pain—and it’s found in the patient’s own cells. By harvesting, isolating and injecting specific components of our patient’s own blood and tissues directly into the site of the injury, we can enhance the body‘s natural self-healing mechanisms.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and other autologous cell therapies mimic the same reparative process that heals a scraped knee or a cut finger. We extend that process deeper into the body by delivering a high concentration of cells with the most regenerative potential to the precise location where they are needed for healing and repair.
OUR HISTORY
The RSI+ story began 15 years ago when founder Dr. Gregory Lutz began to explore the healing potential of platelet-rich plasma (PRP)—and saw its astonishing regenerative effects in terms of dramatically improved physical mobility and in repeat MRI imaging of treated areas.
The decision to open RSI+'s doors in 2016 came after Dr. Lutz's first-ever double-blind, randomized controlled study of intradiscal PRP treatment was published. The associated surge in demand from patients required a more cost-efficient venue to perform these procedures, rather than an expensive hospital operating room. From day one, RSI+ was committed to offering patients with concierge-level service, regenerative orthopedic treatments.
In the years since, our institute's ongoing research and innovation have led to proven-superior cell-extraction and delivery techniques that have established RSI+ as a leader in regenerative medicine and interventional orthobiologics.

PATIENT SAFETY
QUAD A accreditation programs help facilities demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, standardize quality, maintain fiscal responsibility, promote services to patients and collaborate with other healthcare leaders.
QUAD A provides official recognition to facilities that have met 100% of its high standards. Accreditation assures the public that patient safety is top priority in a facility. Facilities must continuously comply with all QUAD A accreditation standards between surveys. Upon approval, an accredited facility must prominently display its accreditation certificate in public view. An accredited facility must be fully equipped to perform procedures in the medical specialties listed on its accreditation application.

CHRISTOPHER LUTZ, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Board-certified physiatrist Dr. Christopher Lutz specializes in acute spine care as well as fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventional orthobiologic treatment of the shoulders, knees and tendons. He is currently an Assistant Attending Physiatrist at New York City's Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Lutz specializes in fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injections of the joint and spine. Over the course of his career, he has co-authored a number of research studies focused on determining the safety and efficacy of intradiscal biologic injections for the treatment of discogenic low back pain. Currently, Dr. Lutz is leading studies that evaluate the efficacy of intra-articular and intra-tendinous injections of bone marrow aspirate for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, anterior cruciate ligament tears and lumbar disc disease, respectively.
A graduate of Princeton University and Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Lutz completed his residency in PM&R at UMDNJ—Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, followed by his fellowship in Spine and Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
He is a Founding Board Member of the Regenerative Orthobiologics Registry and the Playsmart Foundation, as well as a Consulting Physician to the Princeton University Athletics Department. GREGORY LUTZ, MD
Founder
2016-2024
Dr. Gregory Lutz was a leading expert in the field of regenerative sports medicine. In addition to being the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the Regenerative SportsCare Institute (RSI+), Dr. Lutz was also Physiatrist-in-Chief Emeritus at New York City's Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and a Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
Dr. Lutz believed that there is a better solution for patients suffering from chronic low back pain and other musculoskeletal injuries. He came to realize that “the cure” resided within patients themselves, and his relentless desire to harness the game-changing potential of regenerative medicine and interventional orthobiologics as the answer for spine and joint disorders has become a reality.
A driving force in regenerative medicine and interventional orthobiologics movement, Dr. Lutz had co-authored more than 60 scientific publications, including the first double-blind, randomized, controlled study demonstrating the clinical efficacy of intradiscal leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (LR-PRP) therapy. Through his groundbreaking work, Dr. Lutz reinvented the way musculoskeletal care is delivered.

THE REGENERATIVE SPORTSCARE INSTITUTE
The RSI+ story began when Dr. Lutz began to explore the healing potential of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). RSI opened its doors in 2016 with a commitment to providing best-in-class, concierge-level care driven by the proven benefits of regenerative medicine. The needs of the patient always come first, and Dr. Lutz also wanted to create an "Institute" dedicated to ongoing research and innovation to provide the best possible treatment outcomes. RSI+'s mission is to restore mobility and improve patients' overall quality of life with state-of-the-art, science-driven, non-surgical musculoskeletal treatments that are part of a comprehensive approach to overall wellness.
THE INVENTOR
Dr. Lutz was one of the first spine physicians in the world to perform intradiscal platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. Through his research and experience performing more than 1,000 intradiscal orthobiologic procedures, Dr. Lutz invented an optimized intradiscal procedure called DiscCath™.
DiscCath™ is a breakthrough minimally invasive, opioid-sparing spinal procedure that harnesses the healing potential of a patient’s own cells to relieve their back pain and promote healing. This proprietary process allows for the extraction of an enhanced concentration of the patient's own cells, which are precisely delivered inside the disc via DiscCath™ to repair damaged disc tissue. The procedure takes less than one hour and allows patients to return to work and light regular activity within 48 hours. Patients generally report improvement within four weeks without the significant risks and recovery associated with traditional surgery.
THE AUTHOR
Dr. Lutz dedicated his medical career to providing patients with much-needed relief from degenerative disc disease and restoring their spine health. In his book, Heal Your Disc, End Your Pain, hi shared his groundbreaking research and practical experience using regenerative medicine and interventional orthobiologics to treat patients with chronic back pain safely and effectively—without drugs or surgery.
All proceeds from sales of Heal Your Disc, End Your Pain benefit the Regenerative SportsCare Foundation (RSF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to find a cure for degenerative disc disease.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
After graduating from Georgetown University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Lutz pursued his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then completed an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at New York City’s Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), where he has been practicing since 1993.
He had successfully treated professional athletes in the PGA, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and ATP, as well as international business leaders, entertainers and high-profile personalities of all kinds.
Dr. Lutz had been featured in countless media outlets, including NBC’s The Today Show, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Newsweek, Oprah magazine, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, The Epoch Times, Orthopedics Today and WNBC New York.
