Christopher Lutz, MD

Dr. Christopher Lutz is a fellowship-trained, board-certified physiatrist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, specializing in spine, sports, and regenerative medicine. His practice focuses on fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventional orthopedic procedures. He has been serving patients at Hospital for Special Surgery since 2001.

Dr. Lutz graduated in 1991 from Princeton University, where he was an All-American football player on the 1989 Ivy League Champion Princeton Tigers. In 1996, he went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where he was awarded the Dr. Margaret M. Kenrick Award for Excellence in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Lutz pursued his specialty training through a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at UMDNJ—Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, followed by a Spine & Sports Medicine fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery. In 2001, Dr. Christopher Lutz joined his brother, Dr. Gregory Lutz, at Hospital for Special Surgery, where he has been in practice ever since.

In addition to his role at HSS, Dr. Lutz is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is also a founding board member of The Playsmart Foundation and a Consulting Physician to the Princeton University Athletics Department.

In 2014, Dr. Lutz was awarded the Healthnetwork Award for Excellence in Service. For the past five years in a row, Dr. Lutz has been awarded Castle Connolly’s “America’s Top Doctors” and “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area” awards.
